One of Salemtowne's wonderful assets is a beautiful 60 x 22 foot swimming pool, 4 feet deep at the shallowest end and 9 feet at the deepest. There is an earnest desire to enclose the pool one day so it can be used year round. Currently it opens for Memorial Day weekend and closes about mid-October, depending on the weather.

Being outdoors has its advantages. Surrounded by trees and hedges, the swimmers enjoy a seclusion conducive to sunbathing and swimming in 84 degree water (sorry, no skinny dipping). Relaxing, reading and visiting with neighbors from a poolside lounge chair while watching a variety of wildlife fly overhead is a popular activity in Salemtowne.

Swim hours are split between adults only and family swim. Many grandparents find the pool excellent entertainment for visiting children and grandchildren.

Special activities include lap swimming, water aerobics and swim lessons that are available to our residents. Water Aerobics has become a popular activity. Close friendships have developed as a result of visiting while working out. Each year the class has a brunch for its members and spouses on the adjacent barbeque/patio, an Octoberfest dinner cooked by one of the members who is from Germany, and an annual Christmas party.
