Model Train Club

The Trains Are Running in Salemtowne!

A group of model railroad enthusiasts named themselves the Salemtowne "Locos" and began meeting in a room at the Towne Hall complex. The group set to work to fit all their layout scales into this 20 x 25 foot space. Take an "up close" look at the train layouts, from "G" (largest) to "Z" (smallest) in this photo album.

During the holiday season the Locos hold open house on Saturdays for the friends and families of residents. Grandchildren love running the trains!

The "Hall of Fame"

Residents have shared old pictures of family members who worked on the railroad or in related industries (like logging). These pictures now hang in the Salemtowne Railroad "Hall of Fame." Check out the Hall of Fame photo album.

Summer Rail Excursions

Club members enjoy the fellowship of summer rail trip outings. Excursions have included: the Tillamook Bay steam train, the Waterfront Trolley from Portland to Lake Oswego, the Lewis & Clark Explorer train from Portland to Astoria, and a three-day trip to Wallowa Lake, including a ride on the Eagle Cap Train. Excursion photos are just a click away.

The Locos meet every Wednesday at 1 p.m. Everyone is invited and will be pleasantly surprised.
